4月8日上午，Jan H. van Schuppen教授应席开华研究员的邀请，来到山东大学作了题为“Control and System Theory of Decentralized Control of Stochastic System”的学术报告。报告由席开华研究员主持，山东大学数学学院部分教师和研究生参加了此次报告会。

Jan H. van Schuppen教授首先抛出了与Decentralized Control相关的几个实际问题。随后，他给出了Backpressure Algorithm和Decentralized Control的准确定义。在此过程中，他详细阐述了Alternating Bit Protocol理论及其实现过程。接下来，他又深入浅出地讲解了Decentralized Control方向的一些理论概念，包括Common and Private Information, Gaussian Control System及Decomposition Control System等理论知识。

此次讲座，让数学学院研究生了解到控制领域的前沿信息，加深了同学们对自己专业的了解与认识，进一步丰富了学生的知识储备。同时，也启发了数学学院控制论方向的老师，为他们进一步的研究提供了思路与灵感。

Jan H. van Schuppen， a Professor emeritus with Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by the University of California in 1973. His research contributions are primarily in control and system theory, in particular in the subareas of stochastic control, filtering, stochastic realization, control of discrete-event systems and of hybrid systems, and control and system theory of rational systems.
